Open Streets creates safe public space on car-free streets. This free event—held on Saturday, October 1, 2011, on State Street in Chicago’s Loop—promotes community culture, provides a chance for families to get out and have fun, and allows everyone to experience the Loop in a new and exciting way.

In addition to the unprecedented opportunity to traverse one of Chicago’s historic streets, Open Streets on State Street offers a variety of healthy and fun activities, including a mobile skate park, a roller disco and break-dancing lessons. Plus, a host of Loop businesses are offering discounts at area restaurants, retail locations, entertainment destinations and other businesses both during and after the event.

Open Streets on State Street is an initiative of Chicago Loop Alliance in association with Active Transportation Alliance.
